Pettenthal lies in the famous 'Red Slope' of Rheinhessen, the steepest site in all of Rheinhessen. Its steep gradient and southeasterly exposure ensure that the grapes profit from the morning sunlight, which is also reflected by the Rhine River. Nightly dew can dry quickly, helping grapes remain healthy on the vines well into November. The Riesling grows on red shale on ground so soft and porous the roots can practically eat their way through the stone. 60.1 g/L RS, 9.5% alc.
